Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we have made some changes to procedures at the hostel.
Managua Backpackers Inn is open, but with reduced staff and extra hygiene procedures in place.
To keep our guests, staff, and their families safe during the pandemic, we’ve made some changes to existing procedures; along with adding a few new ones. By making a few changes, you can help keep our cozy hostel as clean as possible and safe for everyone as well as help in stopping the spread of the virus in the wider community. Take the time to read this post before you arrive at the hostel so that you are familiar with the procedures we have in place and to make sure they will work for you.
Please note that we offer free cancellation of reservations up until 1 day before your expected arrival date.
Guests are Choosing Private Rooms for Longer Stays
We are focused on offering travellers an option in Managua where they can ‘shelter-in-place’ while they wait until borders and international transportation routes reopen. That means that our guests are often staying in private rooms for longer time periods. We still offer the option of dormitory beds on an overnight basis, though. The dormitory option works well for a group of friends, who are all known to one another, or family members. The whole dormitory can be booked to ensure the groups privacy and safety.
Reduced Number of Dormitory Beds Available
We have reduced the number of available dormitory beds. To maintain social distancing, we have limited the number beds that can be occupied in the dormitories and are asking guests to maintain at minimum 2 meters (6 feet) distance between one another at all times.
Guest Arrival & Check-in
Our reception area is not open 24/7. For that reason, and in order to prevent any delays, we would ask that you confirm your arrival a day in advance by indicating your approximate arrival time. Contact us through our normal channels or via whatsapp at +505-8480-0600.
We ask that you only arrive at the hostel if you are free of virus symptoms. Face coverings are required to be worn in all public spaces in the hostel and it is the responsibility of the guest to provide their own.
Enhanced Cleaning Procedures
In an effort to keep our hostel virus-free, we have stepped-up our efforts in keeping high-use areas clean and hygenic. Throughout the day, we regularly spray and wipe door handles and surfaces using chlorine or alcohol spray.
For guest use, we offer soap in all of our bathrooms as well as 70% alcohol gel in the reception area.
Guest Kitchen and Other Common Spaces
Only one person at a time is allowed in the shared kitchen. We would ask that when you finish using the kitchen that you immediately clean your dishes and utensils and wipe down the counters with the chlorine/alcohol spray that is provided.
While in any of our other common areas, including the swimming pool, you should maintain a safe distance from other guests at all times. We have stepped up our efforts to keep all of our common areas clean and disinfected.
Venturing Outside of the Hostel
Many local businesses in Managua are closed or open with a limited schedule. If you do need to venture outside of the hostel, please remember to wear your mask, maintain social distancing and limit your time in areas where distancing is difficult.
Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about our new procedures.
All the best, keep safe and don’t forget to wash your hands!
